Wood, brush, and yard waste is accepted any day the Transfer Site is open. Waste must be free and clear of debris.
Recycling is mandatory in the State of Wisconsin.

SOLID WASTE (GARBAGE)
Place in the compactor only, unless instructed by the attendant to use the miscellaneous container. Use transparent bags only. Black or other opaque bags are not allowed. BRUSH Tree limbs and branches should be placed at the designated area only. No stumps, painted, or treated wood shall be disposed of in this area. Brush will be accepted year around on any day the transfer site is open. WOOD PRODUCTS All wood products and other construction waste materials must be placed in the miscellaneous (open top) containers. No contractors or persons may deposit large amounts of debris without a permit. See the attendant for details. COMPOST PILE Yard waste consists of leaves, pine needles, grass clippings and garden waste. Do not mix in with any other items. Yard waste shall be free and clear of all plastics, stones, branches, plastic bags, etc. Yard waste will be accepted year around on any day the transfer site is open.
PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE MATERIAL IN PLASTIC BAGS – EMPTY THE BAGS AND THROW THEM AWAY.
NO HAZARDOUS MATERIALS ACCEPTED!
There is a Clean Sweep held at various times and that is the only time you can dispose of any hazardous materials. Watch the newspapers for dates and locations. Paint cans are allowed for disposal ONLY if paint is removed from container or has solidified.
NEWSPAPER, MAGAZINES, AND OFFICE PAPER
Place all newsprint in the bin marked “Newspaper”. Do not leave newspapers in brown paper bags. Place magazines, catalogs, and office waste paper in the bin marked “Magazines/office waste paper”. Do not bundle and tie or leave in brown paper bags.
Rinse all food cans, etc. and place in the proper bin.
BATTERIES, OIL, ETC.
An area to dispose of used oil, oil filters, oil absorbents, batteries, and anti-freeze is provided. These items are accepted free of charge. The attendant will direct you to the proper location for these materials.
An area to dispose of white goods—refrigerators, microwaves, stoves, washers, dryers, humidifiers and dehumidifiers is provided. You MUST check with the attendant before unloading appliances. The disposal fee is $15.00 per item, except for microwaves, which are $10.
The charge to dispose of tires without a rim is $3.00; with a rim is $5.00.
CEMENT & BLACKTOP
Cement and Blacktop is no longer accepted at the Transfer Site.
NO rusted burn barrels, woven or barbed wire, glass, plastic, fuel tanks or wood in the scrap metal area. No large parts, vehicle toppers, or trailers.
Any large items shall be disposed of at local scrap yards.
If in doubt, ASK!
Flatten boxes and place them in the bin marked “Cardboard”. Do not tie. Pop or beer cases and cereal boxes are to be placed in the compactor along with regular trash.
Make sure caps are removed and place the containers in the proper bin. Do not dispose of auto glass, window glass, light bulbs, or ceramics in these bins.

4’ florescent - $.75 each; 8’ florescent - $1.25 each; 4’ shielded florescent - $2.25 each; 8’ shielded florescent - $3.25 each; heavy weight incandescent (spotlights, floodlights) - $1.00 each; regular household bulbs - $0.50 each; household CFL bulbs - $0.75 each; Ultra violet - $2.25 each; high intensity discharge (mercury vapor, etc.) - $6.50 each.
DO NOT DISPOSE OF SHARPS WITH YOUR GARBAGE!
You can dispose of your sealed and labeled sharps container at Riverview Hospital at the main entrance on the east side of the complex. Additionally, the Adams County Solid Waste site is a sharps disposal facility. You can pick up a small sharps container for $5.00 or a large sharps container for $10.00 from Adams County Solid Waste site. This charge includes the disposal of the full container at their site.
We currently accept electronics at the Transfer Site. These items can be placed in the ODC trailer parked near the office (charges may apply). We currently charge $10 for a TV 27” or smaller or a non-TV LCD monitor, $25 for a TV or monitor larger than 27”, and $40 for wood console TVs and LCD TVs over 49”. The charge is $55 for a full size copier. Other than these specified items, all other electronic items are currently accepted free of charge.
