If you answered “YES” to at least a couple of those questions, we want to hear from you. Especially if these sound like things you want to do on a regular basis:
- Help create and implement a wide variety of programs for adults, children and families.
- Work with all kinds of people from a wide range of ages and interests.
- Engage with the community by attending meetings and events.
- Participate in marketing efforts around all library programming, including print media, radio, library displays, library website and social media.

Rome Library Building Project Update
Six weeks into the building project and the new library addition has a roof overhead. The Building Committee membership for this project includes members of the community, library staff and library trustees. Jill Reese and Pam Hyland are Co-Chairpersons, Lore Ponshock, Jerry Wiessinger, Dave Wietrzak, Vern Long, Ron Fregien, Keri Parmeter, and Jay Grode will be active members until the completion of the project. Arc Central is the architect with Earth Design as construction management. Various contractors in the local area will be completing all the phases of the building. Bohn Trucking & Excavation did the site preparation. Eagle Construction has provided the concrete and carpentry aspects of the project. Contracts signed so far are as follows: Ingram Electric LLC, Rapids Sheet Metal, Advantage Plumbing, Concrete Technologies, Tenhagen Acoustics, Freedom Flooring, Legacy Drywall and Robert’s Painting.
Everyone is asking, “So, when will it be done?” At this point the best estimates for a completion date are near the end of January 2017.
When the new addition is complete, the contents of the existing building will be moved over to the addition. At that time, there will be some renovations to the existing space at which time the library will be closed. Depending on particular variables such as weather, these dates may change. During the closed period the library staff and trustees will need volunteers to move shelving, books, boxes, and furniture. As November approaches we should know a clearer timeline and will offer updates on the Library Facebook page and at www.romepubliclibrary.org Please visit and check out the construction, it’s quite exciting to see the work of so many volunteers coming to fruition.
